No sizes. Just measurements.

The average bodydoesn't exist

Start from a photo, a sketch or a few words. Venty turns it into a sewing pattern drafted from your measurements, ready to print.

01Measure

Four measures to start.

Add more when you want a closer fit. Every measure shows where the tape goes, and your body is saved for every pattern after.

02Describe

Show it. Say it.

Upload the photo, or describe it in a sentence. Choose how close it should sit and the fabric you have in mind.

03Print

Print it at home.

Print on A4 at home, or A0 at a print shop. Grainlines, notches and labels on every piece, with a page map to tape the A4 pages together.

Features

Everything apattern needs.

Mark up your references. Draw on a photo or pin a note to it: this neckline, shorter than this. Venty reads your marks along with the rest of your brief.

Refine in plain words. Ask for changes the way you'd say them: five centimetres longer, a wider strap, a lower back. Venty redrafts the pieces.

Print options. A4 at home or A0 at a print shop. Seam allowance on or off, a page map for taping, and a label on every piece.

Body library. Every body you measure, saved and dated. Measure again next season and keep both, or keep a body for someone you sew for.

See it on your body. Turn the garment on your body in 3D, then switch to the flat pieces to see what each one does.

Pattern library. Every pattern you draft, with its versions, your notes and the body it was drafted on. Print it again any time.

FAQ

Beforeyou cut.

  1. As accurate as the measurements you give it. Venty drafts every piece from your numbers, and each measure shows where the tape goes. For anything close-fitting, sew a quick test version first, adjust your body in Venty and draft again.

  2. Dresses, tops, trousers and skirts. Start from a photo or a few words, choose how close it should sit, and Venty drafts the pieces.

  3. No. If you can cut along a line and sew a straight seam, you can start. Fit is described in plain words, and every piece is labelled with grainlines and notches.

  4. They're used to draft your patterns and are kept in your account. You can delete a photo or a body whenever you like.

Meet the maker

NataliaChamon

Natalia Chamon · Designer of Venty

Natalia built Venty as her capstone project at QUT, in Brisbane.

It starts from a problem anyone who sews knows well. Shop patterns are drafted for a standard body, so most makes begin with redrafting. Venty starts from your measurements instead, and drafts the pattern around them.
